Instructors at UZH are generally employed under private law. Employment of this kind is governed by the Swiss Code of Obligations (CO).
Swiss Code of Obligations (CO)
In principle, curricular teaching duties by external instructors are remunerated under a private law employment relationship or, as in the case of block courses, by foreign residents, on a private law mandate basis.
If people who are already employed by UZH carry out teaching activities, the additional teaching work is integrated into their public law employment, either by increasing their employment level or, if this is not possible, by adjusting their salary.
