Prominence marking in an Oceanic language

Prosodic prominence marking is known to be marked though phonological and phonetic means. Acoustic investigations show that there is cross-linguistic variation and not all languages rely on the same phonological and acoustic cues. Thus, the question is, what kind of prominence marking do languages use and why do some languages use some features and others different ones? The goal of this thesis is to compare the prosodic realisation of words in a prosodically prominent vs a prosodically non prominent position of an under-documented language. The speech data for this study has already been collected.
