Eye-tracking and text simplification

In this project, you will collect eye-tracking data for the NEWSELA corpus (https://newsela.com/), containing articles in various levels of simplification. Your task will be to develop a sensible experiment design that allows to investigate the impact of simplified text on eye movements. This also includes creating comprehension questions that will allow to assess reading comprehension. The analysis of the collected data can either focus on ML-based inference (e.g., predict whether a given eye movement sequence is on a simplified or un-simplified text), or on psycholinguistic aspects (e.g., reveal the characteristics of eye movements on simplified vs. non-simplified text).
