Audio description (AD) makes content accessible to blind persons and persons with visual impairments by describing visually relevant actions and features of a movie, series, or similar acoustically (Benecke, 2014). This includes an AD script that is voiced by human speakers or automatically (speech synthesis). Still largely unexplored is the automatic production of the script itself with the aid of computer vision and natural language processing techniques as well as the automatic translation of AD scripts from one language to another (Wang et al., 2021).
